Before it's Gone - Capturing the perfectly imperfect
The tiny hands that grow too quickly. The newborn toes that soon take first steps. The nursing baby. The toddler snuggles on Daddy’s shoulder. The sweaty hair. The skinned knee. The toothless grin and funny smiles.
These are all things that won’t be there as they grow. Within a few years a family can go from a family of two to a family of 4 or 5. New babies, new puppies and within months they have changed. They’ve grown.
It is so hard to remember to get everyone in that photo, especially when you’re the one taking them. Be in the photographs. Come out from behind the camera or phone and be in the images. One day you’ll look back and those tiny fingers will have grown and you can look back at the memories of those fingers laced within yours and remember the feel of your hand wrapped around their sweaty hand.
As parents we are so wrapped up in our day to day that it is hard to remember those little faces and it is only when you look at a photo 6 months, a year or 10 later and realize what a short time they made that face, smiled with ALL of their teeth, or refused to take off their favorite dress, or in my son’s case right now hockey jersey. This year at Christmas we decided to let our daughter wear her Blu costume. She’s been obsessing over dinosaurs, she is convinced that Owen is off living amongst the dinosaurs 🦕 and it made for the absolute best Christmas card we have ever had. See below...
We will never forget this phase in her life and I encourage you to consider going into your next photo session letting go of the “perfect photo” and just enjoy the age and stage that your kids are at. Your photographer will help you get those precious photos they just might not be the ones that are in your head. That is what we are here for, to create that artwork for you and give you images that remind you of those things that make your littles so special to you.
